ANDALUSIA (I)
Juan Rafael Mena
They possess both mountains and sea—
the eight sisters, united,
coastal and highland alike;
linked together in a single chain
where they come to join forces:
fishing, the vine, the mine,
the Spanish fir forest, the salt pan,
cork oak and olive—
and it has also been the cradle
of *cante* and the art of horsemanship.
ANDALUSIA (II)
I rejoice to be Spanish
and Andalusian too,
for, bathed in light,
I sing of and celebrate this sun
of Andalusia—a melting pot
of races and cultures,
of mild temperatures
and a warm, cordial spirit.
May future generations
dream their ideal within you!
